I'm jealous of mashup artists, jealous of their talent. I love music, not in a refined adult way, but like a child in a cafeteria mixing every soda from the machine into one cup. I love hearing one song mesh into another like Sprite and Slice. So the videos below, which all compare songs that sound alike, are my Mega-Coke-Punch.
Miley Cyrus and Ke$ha and Katy Perry all sing the same summer hit
Fun fact: 22-year-old Benny Blanco produced two of these songs, as well as everything else ever.
Nickelback Sounds Like Nickelback
Imagine if M. Night Shyamalan's career had been dead the whole time.
Rubinoos vs. Avril Lavigne
Avril's 'Girlfriend' is a ripoff of the Rubinoos' 'I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend,' which is pretty derivative of the Rolling Stones' 'Get Off of My Cloud.'
Metallica's 'Enter the Sandman' vs. Excel's 'Tapping Into the Emotional Void'
Ha, YouTube's auto-detection system recognized the Excel song, but not Metallica. GUESS THAT PROVES IT.
Rob Paravonian's Pachelbel Rant
It's just a chord progression that works really well for a lot of song genres. What's really cool is that it's not the only one.
The Axis of Awesome: 4 Chords
Told you.
Vanilla Ice's 'Ice Ice Baby' vs. Queen's 'Under Pressure'
This is the mashup equivalent of making out with your mom.
Every Song Sounds Like Every Song
Also they all suck.
Seriously, Everything.
Led Zeppelin Ripoffs
Not ripoffs of Zeppelin. Other way around.
Oasis vs. Burt Bacharach
There's a whole collection of soundalikes at the TotallySoundsLike YouTube channel.
Alicia Keys vs. James Brown
Here's another from TotallySoundsLike.
